Resident and Synchronous Distributed Learning Courses via Blackboard Collaborate
:- Simulation Operations Course (SOC)
- Intermediate Simulation Operations Course (ISOC)
The ISOC provides students with an understanding of FA 57 roles and responsibilities at the LTC level. Functional Area 57 officers will attend this course as directed
in chapter 33, DA PAM 600-3. It also supports the progression of CP36 Civilians at the GS11-GS14 levels. The curriculum emphasizes the following topics:
- Knowledge management and organizational change in support of modeling and simulation activities in the Joint environment
- The Army civilian workforce and contract management
- Modeling and simulation governance
- Force Management principles in simulation operations
- Home station training enablers and MS Development
- Wargaming principles
- Joint Modeling and Simulation
- Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental and Multinational Exercises
- Simulation Professional Course (SPC)
The one-week Simulation Professional Course (SPC) provides individuals with an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, practices, procedures and concepts necessary to integrate models and simulations into the organizational environment. The curriculum emphasizes the following topics: fundamental knowledge of modeling and simulation program management; technical aspects of simulation; employing simulations; cross M&S community issues; application of simulations within M&S communities.
- Advanced Simulation Course (ATRRS Course #2A-F57 (CT))
The purpose of the one week Advanced Simulation Course (ASC) is to prepare the senior level FA 57 and CP 36 workforce to lead the
Army M/S community in support of National Defense Strategy. The content will address the Army Modeling and Simulation (M/S) Enterprise, Army Strategy,
human capital development, M/S in support of modernization, and Joint/Allied interoperability challenges.
- Exercise Planners Introduction Course (EPIC) (ATRRS Course # 2E-F36 (CT))
PURPOSE: The Exercise Planners Introduction Course (EPIC) provides individuals with an understanding of concepts, practices, procedures, responsibilities
and roles necessary to integrate simulations into the training and operational environment. SCOPE: The EPIC Course will enable students to: a. Understanding simulation concepts,
and the ability to discuss applications within the simulation environment. b. Apply the training live, virtual and constructive simulations for the training and operational communities,
focusing on the integration of simulations into training for mission requirements. c. Provide an understanding in planning, preparing, supervising, and executing training events,
and exercises supported by simulations.
- Introduction to Wargaming Course (ATRRS Course # 2W-F57 (DL))
The Introduction to Wargaming course prepares the FA57 to support Wargaming in support of current operations at Division and Corps staffs. Key outcomes of this course are an understanding of Wargaming principles, Wargaming types, adjudication techniques, fundamentals of wargame design, and the use of wargames in support of MDMP.
- Scenario Development Course (ATRRS Course # 2T-F36 (CT))
This course is intended to provide military and civilian professionals with introductory level knowledge and application, particularly in the Analysis and Training Communities,
on how the Army develops scenarios, authoritative scenario sources, and methods to create a scenario for organizational use. The course is open for all Army military and civilian employees (priority),
as well as sister service and DoD military and civilian employees. Key topics in this course include:
- Identify Standard Elements of Scenarios
- Roles of Key Organizations for Authoritative Scenarios
- Impacts on Scenario Development
- Authoritative Scenario Development Sources and Practical Exercise (to include Operational Environment, Doctrine, Geospatial Products, and Existing Scenarios)
- Scenario Development Planning and Army Planning Methodologies
- Theater Campaign Analysis as a Case Study
- Application of Army Problem Solving Practical Exercise
- Scenario Development Processes Practical Exercise
- Develop a Scenario Narrative Practical Exercise
- Data Generation
- Verification, Validation, and Accreditation Course
This course is intended for military and civilian professionals who are responsible for VV&A related activities in their organizations. The course is open for all Army military and
civilian employees (priority), as well as sister service and DoD military and civilian employees. The course will introduce validation, verification, and DoD mandated plans and reports as a foundation.
Practical exercises will focus on already developed data sets with raw analysis presented for consideration. Enabling skills in statistics and industry best practices are included in the course.
The accreditation portion of the course will build into a capstone learning activity. This capstone exercise will provide analyzed data sets and reports and require students to make accreditation decisions based on input of their virtual course staff.
