Welcome to Army Modeling & Simulation


There are many great M&S initiatives occurring throughout the Army. Submit an article and we will post to our website. Must be unclassified, command approved, and releasable to the public.
Announcements:

The 11th Annual Governor's Award will be presented by NTSA at the Leadership Reception and Executive Dinner, to be held 1 Dec 09 during I/ITSEC 2009 in Orlando, FL. Nominations for the Governor’s Award are now being accepted.  Florida Governor Charlie Crist has been invited to make this presentation.  

 

Army MSRR Blog has been developed to collaborate on updating the Army MSRR & potential transition to DoD M&S Catalog


Republic of Korea (ROK) & US hold 1st ever Army-to-Army staff talks: A US delegation met with ROK counterparts in South Korea in Sep 09 for 1st Army-to-Army staff talks between the two countries. The talks included briefings on the current status of their respective armies. Working groups focused on modeling and simulation and force management.


Command prepares joint task force headquarters for deployment: A mission rehearsal exercise conducted by the Joint Warfighting Center will train units to assume command and control operations when they deploy to Iraq.


USJFCOM will receive the CIO magazine 100 Award for excellence in innovation (see article)

Mission: The Army M&S Office guides, coordinates, integrates and synchronizes strategic M&S efforts across the Army in order to create unity of effort and purpose. The Office also develops and implements a coherent and unified Army M&S strategy to organize and equip the Army with M&S capabilities in support of Operating and Generating Force functions and institutional processes. As Proponent for Functional Area 57 Simulation Operations and Battle Command Officers, and Career Program 36 M&S Civilians, recruits, trains, supplies and maintains a professional M&S workforce.

Army Modeling Simulation vision
Vision:
By 2016, leaders at all levels, from the Generating and Operating Forces down to platoon level will routinely employ models and simulations that support decision-making, course of action development, mission planning, rehearsal, and operations.
Army Modeling Simulation Strategic Objectives
Strategic Objectives:
The Army Modeling & Simulation Strategy signed by the Vice Chief of Staff for the United States Army in 2008 identified five strategic objectives vital to the Modeling and Simulation enterprise to achieve the Army intent.
Army Modeling Simulation Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Organize & equip Army M&S
  • - Formulate & execute a coherent, unified M&S strategy
    - Monitor & advocate Army-wide M&S investments
    - Serve as the authoritative Army M&S interface to DoD, Joint, & International fora
  • Train & supply qualified M&S professionals to the Army
  • - Recruit & manage the M&S workforce to best meet the Army's warfighting needs
    - Create a fully trained Army M&S workforce
